Mystery School
Welcome
Welcome, friend. Or perhaps, welcome back.
If you are reading this, some question has probably been working on you for a while.
The Machinery
Most people never chose the world they live in.
Assumptions, fears, ambitions, and beliefs, inherited from family, culture, institutions, and algorithms. They call it freedom because they have never met anything else.
The Machinery
A smaller number begin to notice the machinery.
That attention is harvested. That imagination is managed. That consensus reality is less solid than it pretends to be.
If that is the territory you have been living in, you are in good company here.
What This Is
Not a school, a church, a fandom, or a self-help program.
Black Lantern is a meeting place for people who suspect that imagination is more powerful than they were taught, and that consciousness is humanity's least-explored frontier.
What This Is
The traditions have many names for it.
Gnosis. Initiation. Illumination. The Secret Fire. The Philosopher's Stone.
The names matter less than the territory, and the territory is real.
The Work
Essays, practices, provocations, and invitations.
Some will challenge assumptions you did not know you held. None of this is a spectator sport. The current stays alive only because people step into it.
The Work
This asks for something different.
Practice, discipline, and accountability, and moments when the work asks you to face things you would rather avoid.
For some that feels frightening. For others it feels like coming home. You will find out which, and no one will decide it for you.
The Work
In time, there will be oaths.
Not because obedience is required, but because commitment is what carries the work through difficulty. Any oath here binds you to no institution, man, or woman, only to your own Self.
The Aim
We will not hand you a new set of beliefs.
Only the means to see more clearly, and to move through a strange, fast-changing world without surrendering your attention, your agency, or your humanity.
That work begins within.
